Closing this chapter and final pics of the house

Life has been hectic to say the least. Without going into too many details that I will probably turn into a blog, we have decided to start trying for another baby, while raising a toddler, dealing with daily life and of course building our dream home. Speaking of home, we made a major decision to stop building The Carolina Place with Ryan homes and start building a Belina with Mid-Atlantic Builders. This all started on Oct 7 th 2017 when we were going to check on our progress of the Carolina Place and when we got to our neighborhood we saw that Mid-Atlantic had released a new Ranch level! Well I can never leave well enough alone, and I went online to check out the floorplan and fell in love. This plan had everything we thought the Carolina Place was missing. Unfortunately, there was no model we could see since they had not built this house yet anywhere, so we had to use our imaginations. We needed to decide quickly because since we live with my in-laws it was going to be har

Stop building our house

Major change we actually stopped building with Ryan so I am closing this blog out nothing bad on their end they were great we just found a different home that worked better for our needs so feel free to check out the new blog.

Progress update

As exciting as building a home is I have not been into updating my blog lately but I do have a few pictures to share. Our estimated break ground date was September 6th, we broke ground on the 8th. When we got back from vacation we stopped by to see the progress on 9/11. The Cement frames are in for the basement. These two pics are from 9/16 This last pic was from 9/23 The basement.

Prebuild meeting

Today we met with our Project Manager & Sales Rep for our prebuild meeting. It was from 11am-3:30 PM but we literally went through every detail which is a great thing because we did find a few discrepancies. We chose the Linen & stone cabinets but they only had us for Linen. They do not like changes at this point but if you do need to make them this is the time. We were able to get the Stone cabinets added on, also we added a dedicated circuit to the basement which you should do if you plan on having a fridge or freezer in the basement, this was $300. We also went over placements of 110 outlets, recessed lights, flood lights & ceiling fans. Overall it was a good meeting and though long was totally worth it to be able to make sure nothing was missed. Our estimated break ground date is Sept. 6 th and we are estimated to close in “late December”. We told the PM that we are not in a rush so we do not care how late the closing date is. Also our sales rep finally realize

Locking in structure, picking finishes and wiring

Design Ctr Guidelines It has been a hectic week, we passed our 5 day cancel mark and approaching our 30 day mark. On Friday 6/23 we met with T.A.C Tile to pick our finishes. Our rep was really nice and we were allowed to bring our 16 month old daughter but we kept her in her stroller. Some design centers do not allow children so make sure you check before going. You have up to 2 hours in the design center but if you go with a vision, pics of your style and an idea board it goes faster because the rep is able to see what you are looking for, our appointment lasted 45 mins. Also prior to going to this appointment we went to 3 different models of the Carolina Place to see the different design options, I would recommend taking pictures both distance and detail pics. of things you like Also if you see something you like in the model don't be afraid to ask what it is. I asked for a list of all the finishes and paint color in a particular model and they supplied me with a print out of

Building our Carolina Place with Ryan Homes

Our original home search started Oct. 2016 we were looking specifically for a single level home as I have a partial artificial knee and like to avoid stairs if necessary. One afternoon after leaving my in-laws we drove past a sign for a Ryan development and my husband said "Maybe they have single level homes" I said "I doubt it most large builders do not build single level homes." Well I feel like the universe set me up just so I would have to eat my words because once we got home my husband insisted I look them up and of course there was the beautiful Carolina Place. http://www.ryanhomes.com/find-your-home/our-homes/single-family/carolina-place/cnp00 At that time we still had my husbands bachelor condo and unfortunately the market was not kind to us, so to even think about selling it we had to clean out our savings which was also our down payment for the Carolina Place. 😢 We listed our condo in November and 3 days later we had an offer, unfortunately the deal

New Chapter

This weekend kick started a new chapter in our lives. We are building a home! Originally we were going to go with Quality Built Homes (QBH) the Brentwood model. This was our dream home everything about it was perfect…or so we thought. Nothing against them at all they were professional, helpful and patient. However, we could not look past the commute my husband would have to make (1hr 15mins one way not including traffic) we are a close family and enjoy our time together. Also, we were not 100% sold on a propane tank heating system nothing wrong with it just not a fit for us. Soooooo we went with Carolina Place with Ryan homes. Check in soon for the next blog with the details.
